BRUSSELS OUT David Davis will sidestep official EU divorce process with a series of one-on-one talks with member countries

DAVID Davis will sidestep the official EU divorce process this summer with a series of one-on-one talks with member countries, The Sun can reveal.

The Brexit Secretary’s chats with foreign ministries will allow the groundwork for a future deal to be tested before formal talks begin in the autumn.

Yesterday he flew from Brexit talks in Brussels straight to Madrid to discuss the tricky issue of Gibraltar’s borders with Spain. The Government insists that the sovereignty of the Rock is not on the table.

But sources confirm Gibraltar was discussed during the opening round of divorce talks on Monday.

It is understood Mr Davis told EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier that any future Brexit deal must apply to all of the UK’s crown dependencies.
