Carey Olsen Bermuda announces continued growth and office move as it celebrates third anniversary.

Press release from Carey Olsen on Wednesday 18 November, 2020.

Carey Olsen Bermuda is delighted to be marking its third anniversary by announcing plans to move into new, larger premises at the Rosebank Centre in January next year.

Carey Olsen Bermuda now employs more than 35 staff, with the most recent appointments of senior associates Emma Duffy, Oliver Wade and associate Alexandra Fox further strengthening the firm's dispute resolution, litigation and corporate offering. These new additions mark exceptional growth for the firm which opened its doors with only a single employee, managing partner Michael Hanson.

Commenting on the firm's latest milestone and upcoming move, Michael said: "Given where we are now it is hard to believe we are only three years old. We are especially proud to have succeeded in the context of a mature Bermuda legal market, the wider global uncertainties and the regulatory challenges new law firms faced when seeking to establish a presence in Bermuda. We are now firmly placed as one of the leading law firms in the Bermuda market and, despite ambitious growth plans from the outset, we have substantially exceeded all expectations (and our existing office space!).

"Emma, Oliver and Alexandra are the latest in a series of recent appointments that reflect the growing demand for our services. Between them, they bring considerable expertise in advising across a broad range of specialisms and we're delighted to have them join us."

Other notable developments to take place during the firm's third year include the launch of corporate service provider business Carey Olsen Services Bermuda Limited in August, the awarding of the first pupillage training contract as part of the firm's new pupillage programme in October and, most recently, the addition of family law expertise with the appointment of matrimonial, family and child law expert Honor Desmond-Tetlow as a senior consultant within its private client and dispute resolution teams.

Michael added: "We've achieved so much in such a short time thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff and the loyalty and support of our clients. The office move in January is the next step in the journey for Carey Olsen Bermuda, and we are very much looking forward to seeing where the following three years takes us."

Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited is a limited liability company incorporated in Bermuda and approved and recognised under the Bermuda Bar (Professional Companies) Rules 2009.
