ISLE OF MAN: 'Island will have public register of beneficial ownership to tackle economic crime', says Treasury Minister.

Treasury Minister David Ashford says the Island will live up to a three-year-old promise to have a public register of beneficial ownership to tackle economic crime.

On Wednesday, he went to London to meet senior ministers from the Crown Dependencies and the UK to discuss Britain's Economic Crime Bill.

Mr Ashford told the meeting the Island will implement sanctions in line with the UK, and fulfil a vow to have a public register showing who really owns Manx companies.

In July 2019, the government said it would set up the register by 2023.
