FINTECH: TON Started Encrypted Messages to Enhance Blockchain Privacy

As published on: cryptotimes.io, Wednesday 5 July, 2023.

In a recent press release, the TON Foundation announced the integration of messenger encryption within the Open Network (TON). This new feature guarantees the safety of user’s personal information when including text messages with financial transactions.

The addition of end-to-end encryption to TON’s already secure platform allows senders and recipients to communicate privately, ensuring that only they can access the messages. Moreover, TON has made this service widely accessible by charging approximately 0.006 Toncoin (TON) per transaction for sending encrypted messages.

Anatoly Makosov, a Core developer at TON Foundation, emphasized the resilience of the decentralized TON blockchain, highlighting how users can rely on it even during challenging scenarios such as an apocalypse or failure of conventional messenger servers.

Previously, TON users could personalize transactions by adding messages like “for air ticket” or “happy birthday” when sending Toncoin, Jettons, or NFTs to others.

Now, TON stands out among other blockchains by offering full encryption for this popular feature, ensuring that only the intended parties can access the messages. This improvement enhances privacy as previously, these messages were visible to everyone due to being sent along with each transaction.

TON’s layer-1 architecture is designed for scalability, with the capability to accommodate up to 2 to the power of 32 workchains. Each workchain can further be divided into up to 2 to the power of 60 shardchains, enabling TON to handle millions of transactions per second efficiently.

With the integration of messenger encryption, TON Foundation empowers users to conduct secure transactions while ensuring confidential and private communication within the network.
