INTERNATIONAL TAX: Romania Moves Global Minimum Tax Forward With Draft Law

As published on: news.bloomberglaw.com, Friday 6 October, 2023.

Romania is implementing the global minimum tax rules to avoid losing revenue to other countries, despite the option to delay based on EU law.

The Romanian government published its draft law on Wednesday on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s global minimum tax framework. It implements the income inclusion rule that requires foreign companies to pay a minimum 15% corporate tax rate and the undertaxed profits rule, a backstop measure in case the IIR fails to collect the minimum tax.
